Brick Work Continues

Monday, November 24 through Wednesday, November 26, 2008: The brick work continues at the back of the house.

The Stove

This is D's five hundred,seventy pound toy. With the help of 4 other guys, he was able to place it in his basement cave on Monday November 24.

Up and Down Staircases

Monday, November 24,2008: Work began on the staircases.By Tuesday, the upstairs, and downstairs staircases were in place. Yes, the upstairs staircase is steeper then average. Which is OK with me, as our master bedroom is on the main floor, and I do not need to use this staircase every day. This way it will allow for more upstairs floor space. I refer to it as my Cardiovascular workout.

Brick work progress

Thursday, November 20,2008: Today, the masonry crew was able to lay brick on the west side wall of the master bedroom. They stopped work at 1:30 pm due to expected temperature drop into the teens tonight. No other work at building site today.

Heat and Air duct work begins

Tuesday, November 18, 20008: Today, the installation of the duct work began for heat and air. Openings cut here and there for the vents. They had met with us on site Monday, Nov. 10 to determine where the vents would go. What a cold day to be working with metal! Cold and windy with snow flurries on the hill.
Wednesday: Duct work continues. No brick work so far this week due to 30 some degree weather.

Brick work begins, doors installed

Wednesday, November 12,2008: Today, builder & crew started installing doors. Also, Masonry company started laying brick on back side of house. The brick is an Old Virginia 'Montpelier' brick. Brick work came to a halt at 3PM due to rain.
Thursday, November 13: Rain today. No brick work. Builder & crew worked on inside doors & such.
Friday, November 14: Today, brick work resumed. Finished the wall on the North side of the master bedroom. Work on doors continued.

Windows installed

Tuesday, November 4th, Late afternoon: Pump to well installed. Muddy water at this time.

Wednesday, November 5th: After running the well pump for about 4 to 5 hours, the water is now clear. We are hopeful that our well will be OK.
--- Builder and crew started putting in windows today at the back of the house.

Thursday, November 6th: All the windows, except for 2, are now installed. Wow! That went fast.

Framing of roof

Tuesday, November 4, 2008: Today, the roof framing,(except for the wrap around porch),was completed. Now it is beginning to look like a house!
